An update on the maintenance works - yesterday our teams of volunteers spent time preparing the track that’s been moved, by ballasting and levelling. With some great effort lots of progress has been made! There’s still work to be done, including testing the locos on the newly laid section (including our steamie, Davanna) but the volunteers are well on track (😉) for opening again next season! 😊 If you’re interested in joining our merry band and volunteering, just drop us a message! Keep safe everyone and looking forward to seeing you all next season! 🚂 CHOO CHOO!! 🚂 ... See MoreSee Less

Hello everyone! We hope you are all staying safe and well during lockdown 2.0! We’ve had a busy closed season so far, trying to get as much ground work maintenance completed as possible before the weather changes. Our fabulous volunteers have been safely working in their personal bubbles to carry on with the completion of the track work, and have done an amazing job! It’s not just individuals who volunteer - we have whole households committed to our little railway! If you’d like to volunteer next season at the UK’s oldest pub garden miniature railway, DM us! We always welcome new volunteers to our little trains!! 🥰 ... See MoreSee Less

Today a dedicated team of volunteers took the opportunity, before lockdown starts again, to continue some of the track work already started. They managed to finish digging out for the new trackbase before the next stage - digging out a tonne of MOT from the pick up truck into the work wagon, which was then taken to the track and dug out of the wagon into the new trackbed for the ballast foundation - a lot of hard graft!! Fortunately it was a bright, sunny day! Well done to our volunteers! We’ll keep you all posted on developments of the track move when we’re able to get back there! Stay safe everybody! From the FMR Volunteers. 🚂 🥰 ... See MoreSee Less

As many of you know by now Luton is moving into Covid tier two from tomorrow. After much difficult discussion, the FMR has decided to cancel plans to run Santa Specials this year - as the situation is constantly changing with the threat of more of the area moving to a higher tier, we feel that it would be unfair to go ahead with the events only to have to cancel at the last minute, and we need to keep our visitors and volunteers safe as we move further into the winter months. We’ve been incredibly fortunate to have been able to open at all during 2020 - it’s been amazing to welcome so many visitors! Please accept our apologies - we didn’t want to disappoint everyone after all the support shown! But we will look forward to welcoming you all back in 2021! In the meantime, we have lots of work to do at the railway, so we’ll continue with that and keep you updated on progress. FMR Society and Volunteers. ... See MoreSee Less
